WATER TOWER REHAB INFORMATION

The water tower is now 25 years old, and needs rehabilitation. The water tower will be thoroughly cleaned inside, with the outside getting a new look!

In order to clean the inside, the water must be drained from the tower. Fortunately, the City has a water storage facility and will be able to continue water service during the rehabilitation process.

This is where we need your help. The City of Benson will be implementing water restrictions. The project will be taking place from early May into early August. Without the storage capacity of the water tower, we are asking for your cooperation with conserving water and asking residents to limit water usage.

We are asking that watering of lawns, gardens and plants be done between the hours of 9 p.m.-7 a.m., with odd numbered houses to water on odd days of the month and even numbered houses to water on even days.

Please limit any unnecessary water usage. If we are unable to produce enough water for essential use, a watering ban may have to be implemented.

For updates and notices on this project, watch this website, the City’s Facebook account, download our GoGov App and the Swift County Monitor News.

The City of Benson appreciates your cooperation during the rehabilitation of our water tower

SEASONAL NOTICES

CITY COMPOST SITE

The City compost site is a place where Benson residents may dispose of yard waste. It is located west of the Street Department on the west end of Kansas Avenue and 22nd Street South.

There is an area marked for grass clippings and another area marked for branches. We ask you PLEASE TAKE YOUR GARBAGE BAGS WITH YOU when you leave, or dispose of them in the garbage can provided at the site. The plastic bags do not decompose into the soil. Because of illegal dumping at the site, the City now has surveillance cameras at the compost site.

The City of Benson is pleased to offer this service and appreciates your cooperation at the City compost site.
